Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the Valopins China Site (valopins.cn) and Global Site (valopins.com). It explains what information we process, why we process it, how long we keep it, and how you may exercise your rights. Valopins provides fan-built VALORANT lineups, crosshairs, practice tools, and related utilities.

We follow purpose limitation, data minimization, and transparency principles. Most browsing and local tools do not require sign-in. We process limited information only for security and diagnostics, anonymous analytics, feedback, ratings, and—on the China Site only—sign-in and lineup contributions.

2. Who we are

Valopins is operated as an independent fan project. The operator of valopins.cn and valopins.com is the personal-information handler or data controller for these sites and can be reached at [email protected].

Valopins is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated in partnership with Riot Games, Inc. or Tencent.

3. Data we collect

a) Access, security, and diagnostic data: IP address, user-agent, request time, requested URL, referrer, and rate-limit, error, and security logs.

b) Anonymous usage analytics: our self-hosted Umami service records page views, referrers, browser and device type, approximate country or region, and selected in-site feature events. It does not set analytics cookies, track across sites, or use device fingerprinting.

c) Cookies and browser-local data: theme, language, tool settings, practice records, tactics drafts, favorites, and random browser identifiers used to deduplicate feedback, ratings, or resource favorites. Section 6 lists the applicable periods.

d) Information you submit: feedback text and any contact detail you choose to include, ratings and favorite actions, and lineup contribution content. Only when you use WeChat mini-program QR sign-in and contribution features on the China Site do we process a mini-program user ID, nickname, session issue time, and submitted content. The Global Site does not offer this sign-in feature.

We do not ask for your legal name, home address, payment data, biometric data, or precise location. If you place such information in free text, we will receive it with that submission.

4. Why we collect it

— To provide pages, tools, and, where offered on the China Site, sign-in and contribution functions
— To secure the service, rate-limit requests, diagnose faults, and prevent feedback, rating, or favorite abuse
— To measure anonymous usage and improve features
— To remember local preferences, drafts, favorites, and practice settings
— To handle feedback, moderation, copyright complaints, disputes, and legal obligations

5. Legal basis (GDPR, where applicable)

Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis depends on the activity: providing a service you requested or taking steps at your request; legitimate interests in service security, abuse prevention, anonymous analytics, and basic operation; consent where the law requires it for optional information; and compliance with legal obligations.

For users in mainland China, we process personal information with consent or another lawful basis under Article 13 of the Personal Information Protection Law and follow notice, specified-purpose, and minimum-necessary requirements. You may decline non-essential information, but the related feedback, sign-in, or contribution feature may then be unavailable.

6. Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. Current cookies and browser storage include:
— THEME: theme preference, up to 1 year
— NEXT_LOCALE: language preference, up to 1 year
— val_feedback_visitor_id: a random anonymous identifier created when feedback is first submitted, used for abuse prevention and retrieving your feedback, up to 2 years
— VAL_WEB_LINEUP_SESSION: set only after QR sign-in on the China Site; it contains a signed mini-program user ID, nickname, and issue time, lasts up to 14 days, and is deleted on sign-out
— localStorage / sessionStorage: tool settings, practice records, tactics drafts, an anonymous resource-client identifier, and one-session notice state, normally retained until you clear site data or the browser session ends.

Clearing or blocking these does not prevent ordinary browsing, but preferences, history, feedback lookup, or China Site sign-in state may be lost.

7. Third parties

We use DNS, CDN, hosting, database, and security infrastructure. Those providers process request metadata only as needed to provide their services. Analytics runs through our self-hosted Umami service at analytics.isoox.cn, with separate website identifiers for the China Site and Global Site. Only if you choose WeChat mini-program QR sign-in on the China Site will WeChat / Tencent process the QR and mini-program interaction under its own terms; Valopins receives the mini-program user ID and nickname needed for the sign-in result.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not run third-party advertising. We otherwise disclose personal information only to service providers, at your direction or with required consent, in a business transfer, or when legally required.

8. Data retention

We keep information only for the shortest period needed for the purposes described above, considering its amount, nature, risk, dispute needs, and legal obligations:
— Cookies and local data follow the periods in section 6 or remain until you clear them
— Security and diagnostic logs are kept for a limited operational period and then deleted or de-identified
— Feedback, ratings, favorites, China Site account links, and contributions are kept while needed to provide history and moderation, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with law; they are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed
— Residual copies in backups are overwritten through normal rotation; legally preserved data is restricted to that purpose
— Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify a person may be used for statistics, security, and service improvement and retained while it remains de-identified.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards including HTTPS, access controls, rate limiting, and HttpOnly, SameSite, and Secure cookies when the site is served over HTTPS. Access is limited to people and systems that need it. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; if an incident requires notice under applicable law, we will take remedial and notification steps.

10. Your rights

Under applicable laws—including the PIPL, GDPR / UK GDPR, CCPA where its thresholds apply, Japan's APPI, Korea's PIPA, Taiwan's PDPA, Hong Kong's PDPO, or other local law—you may have rights to notice, access or copy, correction, deletion, restriction or objection, consent withdrawal, portability, an explanation of processing rules, freedom from unlawful discrimination for exercising rights, and a complaint to a supervisory authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Email [email protected] to make a request. To prevent impersonation or deletion of another person's data, we request only what is needed to verify and locate the record, such as the feedback anonymous identifier or, for China Site features only, a session or mini-program user identifier. We respond within the period required by applicable law. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing, and we explain any legally permitted refusal or retention.

11. Children

Valopins is not directed to children under 13. A user below the age at which they may independently consent to personal-information processing may only browse content that does not require active submission of personal information under a parent or guardian's supervision, and must not independently submit feedback, sign in, or contribute content. In mainland China, users under 14 must not use feedback, China Site sign-in, contributions, or other features that process personal information.

We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe a child below the applicable age submitted information, contact [email protected]; after verification we will delete, de-identify, or otherwise handle it as required by law.

12. International transfers

Valopins is operated by an individual in China and uses network, CDN, hosting, and analytics infrastructure for the China Site and Global Site. Depending on the domain and service node you use, request metadata may be processed outside your country or region. China Site sign-in data is processed only when that site provides the sign-in feature.

When a regulated cross-border transfer occurs, we use the notice, consent, contract, assessment, or other safeguard required by applicable law.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for a reasonable period.
